My Gryffindor socks are in the FO pile!! New WIP!!

I finished my Gryffindor socks!! Yeah!! These are the first pair of socks that I've knit for my own actual use!! They are comfortable and oh so pretty!! Thank you again Mary Catharine for sending me the yarn and pattern in my HSKS #3 package!! I LOVE the yarn!!

Pattern: Fawkes by Monkey Toes (pattern from ravelry but the link to the pdf isn't working right now)
Yarn: Gryffindor by Razzy Tazzy Knits. (She doesn't have anything up but when she does I'd love some more yarn)
Comments: LOVE LOVE LOVE the yarn and pattern. Took me a while to knit because this has been my travel knitting for a long time. :)

I also Cast on for my first pair of Monkey socks by Cookie A. Last I checked on ravelry there were over 3000 of these socks in the users projects. I think most people who have knit socks have knit this pattern. I'm knitting them because 1. I like how the pattern looks and 2. the Sock knitters Anonymous Sockdown is using Cookie A as one of this month's designers.

Well...this post sure solidifies why this blog is a knitting blog. :) I hope everyone had a great weekend. My toe is still sore but it's not bright red and swollen as it was on Friday. I'm hoping to be able to make it on my feet all day tomorrow. I don't seem able to put a shoe on so that might be a problem.

HSKS #3 Package!!!

My swap pal spoiled me!!! She sent me so much great stuff. Thank you again Mary Catharine! You should go check out her blog. It's a good read and she's got some great pictures.

She sent me this cute card!!

Here's all the stuff she sent. A skein of yarn from Razzy Tazzy Knits in Gryffinor colorway. It's so squishy and nice!! She sent me a copy of Fawkes sock pattern, which is one I really want to try. A sock kit from Lismore Sheep Yarn, which is very nice wool and a pattern to go with it. She sent me Addi dpn's size 2 and size 6 birch dpns from River John Needle Company, two packets of hot chocolate, beautiful stitch markers, a row counter bracelet from Crimson Orchid, Cards and labels from Jenn's Rather Crafty etsy store.

Oh and this awesome bag. I love it. She actually knit me a beautiful Gryffindor bag but due to an unfortunate incident it was felted and her computer fried with water. I'm really happy with the bag she sent me. It's beautiful material and I like this design a lot!!

I can't tell you how much I love this package!! It's great.

Since we didn't get a chance this weekend will all the gloomy weather to make the yarn swift. I'm off to use Special K's hands as my swift and make a center pull ball out of the Gryffindor yarn so I can make a swatch!! Yes, I'm swatching. I'll take a picture now that my camera has power. :)

I made stitch markers for my swap pals this weekend. Well...I didn't make them all. I went and bought some nice beads and sat watching football and started working on them. It's my first time making stitch markers and I had fun but I had a tough time getting the wire completely wrapped like I wanted it. I think the beads were too big. Special K noticed and asked if he could help me. He got it and ended up taking over. :) I was so happy. Not that I didn't like making stitch markers but Special K has not always understood my knitting but tries to be very supportive. This was the first thing that he did knitting related and I couldn't get the smile off my face for a while. I packed up my goodies for my Football-along swap pal and dropped it off at the post office on Monday. I hope she likes all the goodies I sent her.

These are the ones I had him make me with the left over beads. It's also a tease for my HSKS 3 swap pal!! Didn't Special K do a great job?

My weekend has been crazy but I've gotten to knit plenty. :) I don't have my camera with me so no pics for now..

The hardest question on the Crossword puzzle was #5 What troublesomme character is left out of the HP movies?? Took me five people and lots of brain power to figure this one out. :)

HSKS 3 Swap Questionnare

1. What Hogwarts house have you been sorted into? Go Gryffindor!!!
2. List your favorite double-point needle brands, including size and length. Or would you prefer circulars? I haven't tried enough to have a favorite but the only ones I have are Clover's bamboo dpn in size 6 and 7.
3. Would you like to try a new brand needle? If so, which brand? Size? Length? Lately, I've been eyeing the nickel-plated dpn's from knitpicks.com. :) I've heard great things about them. I guess I'd like whatever size and length would go best with the pattern that you send me. :)
4. If you are a RAVENCLAW, do you prefer the colors in the film or the book? Do you have a strong preference? Again. GO GRYFFINDOR!!!!
5. Do you have any allergies? I'm allergic to Cats, rabbits, small animal dander, dust and pollen. :) hehe...
6. If you are swapping scarves - what is your desired length for the pattern? This will help your partner find the pattern that is just right for you and buy yarn accordingly. Ok...just for kicks instead of scarf size. I'll just say I fit into a size 7 shoe. :)
