Dogs on Thursday and tthe Rippin truth.

Yeah, for Dogs on Thursday!! I'm glad it's Thursday because that means tomorrow if FRIDAY!! Yeah!! Here are some cute pictures of the pups. First one is Jackjack on the way back from Knitting on Sunday. He sure was tired and cute. :)This is Abby with a new toy her daddy brought home. :) She likes it.
The pups are doing well and Abby's skin is much better since we know what she's allergic to.

Ok..now the Rippin Truth. I picked up my wedding shawl to work on this week and I figured out that I was making a mistake every row. The last stitch on every row I was knitting into the back of the loop instead of just knitting it. This created a little loose edging. Here's a picture of the edging. If you look at the left part it's nice and tight but then the right gets loosey goosey.
Here's a picture from the front. It looks ok but not great.
At first I was like I think I can live with it....but you know that if it's not perfect or as perfect as I can get it then I feel I just have to fix it. This is the shawl for my wedding a very important day in my life and people will be taking a TON of pictures of me. I just couldn't live with my mistake. Special K and several friends thought I was crazy to rip back 35 rows of knitting that's over 100 stitches each. But to me I just had to. I have until Dec to finish so here's what the shawl looks like now...

I thought about skeining up the yarn and washing it and getting the kinks out but really...I don't want to frog the whole thing so I'm just knitting away. I'm no longer intimidated by the lace pattern so it will be a faster knit for me. I'm hoping to put a dent in it before June. :)

Well..hope everyone is having a great day. Dinner last night was wonderful...they sang me "Cumpleanos Feliz" and I got some free FLAN! YUMMO!! The view and the company was even better. Special K and I had a great time and I'm really glad we went out for my birthday!!

Happy Knitting and DOT!!

  1. Don't you hate having to frog but you are right, you wouldn't be happy with it and all that work would have been for naught.

Pups are looking good and it's so nice when dad brings home presents isn't it????

  2. Frogging sucks but sometimes you just need to do it. Re-knitting it now will be so much better than spending a whole day thinking about it when you want to be thinking about more important things - like Special K.

  3. Don't you just hate it when you find a mistake and it annoys you until you go back and solve the whole problem? That was a lot to rip out.

And yes, the shawl is very special, and it should suit you perfectly!

  5. I don't know anything about knitting but you have two cute little doggies there. We also had a black lab named Abby. She was a wonderful dog. Smart too. She could open the back door with her paws.

  7. Good luck on that shawl--I too would have frogged if it was my wedding shawl I am a perfectionist to a point, and you are right--that is a big day.

  8. Happy late birthday. SOunds like you had a barkn good time. Love the DOgs THursday photos. What gumption you have to rework the wedding shawl. I think you are amazing to do so, and you will be very happy with it in the end.

  10. I had to rip my WHOLE entire Icarus shawl, I was on the last lace chart. I almost bled I think. But you are right, to spend all that time, for such a special day.... The frog pond it is.

And seeing your pups makes me want one SO bad. We are waiting for a better time to add a little pup to our family (we really want to go through a rescue agency). I have always had a dog and these past 2 years is the most I have ever gone without one. I miss it terribly.

  12. I completely understand frogging the shawl. If there is one mistake in my Chuppah I frog back to my lifeline. It's for my wedding as well and it just has to be perfect. It's an important day!

  13. I would have frogged it too. I know exactly what you mean. I would have thought about that mistake the rest of the way through the shawl. Oh well, you'll finish it.

Oh no! Looks like I'm two behind on your podcasts! Time to play catch up.
    P.S. I tagged you for a meme.
