Organizing my WIPs!

I mentioned in the post the other day about how I've been getting back to my knitting.  It started when I dove into my stash to look at what's there and what I have on the needles.  I also decided that I needed to organize the projects I have on the needles so that I only have a couple I'm actively working on.  I decided the best way to do this was to pick themes for projects.  I often times have a project sitting in a specific place to work on for a specific time.  Such as my nightstand, in the stash closet for couch knitting, and in my purse or diaper bag for travel knitting.  Using this theme, I organized the projects on my needles into four categories and picked out some projects that I have been wanting to knit and add those to the lists.  This is what I came up with.  Project currently on the needles are in bold.  I've posted this on the group on Ravelry.com and also talked about it on the podcast.  It has morphed a couple times. :)

Travel  Project:
  1. Barknknit’s Barknknit Raising Quilt by Shelley Mackie and Larissa Brown (longterm project)
  2. Barknknit’s Simple Anklet made up pattern
Challenging Project:
  1. Barknknit’s Moonfleet by Janine Le Cras
  2. Aidez Cirilia Rose
Selfish Project:
  1. Barknknit’s My Hemlock Ring Blanket pattern by Jared Flood
  2. Spectra by Stephen West
Carmen/baby Project:
  1. Simple Burpcloths in a pattern that I made up. (yes the projects page says I completed it but there is one left on the needles that I'm gifting to a friend)
  2. Soakers for a friend (edited to add this)
  3. Toddler Raglan Hoodie by Megan Goodacre
  4. Baby Tiered Coat and Jacket by Lisa Chemery
Feel free to take this idea and post a similar post on your blog and come back and link it in the comments so I can  go check it out!

Since I'm sure many of you are like me and feel pictures are important on blog posts.  Here is a WIP pic of my Hemlock Ring Blanket that I've been working on since last April!
I'm SO SO close to being done.  I'm on the bind off and I chose to do the knitted bind off and once I figured it out it's going famously. My plan is to have this off the needles this weekend.  I really want to cast on the Spectra which I have the yarn in my stash for but promised myself I couldn't until I finish the hemlock ring.  Wish me luck!

The project bag was gifted to me by my friend Amanda who used to be NH Knitting Mama but is now Sunflower Yarns.  You should definitely check out her online store!

Happy Knitting!!!

PS...Tour de Fleece starts tomorrow and so you'll actually get some spinning content soon!

    Knit Night

Happy Hump day! Today was a long day...the weather is changing and there is a big storm brewing...which is making my head hurt pretty bad. Even though my head hurt, I headed over to the weekly Fiber Fanatics meet up for some fiber friend time.

Even though I didn't get much knitting done, I did have a fantastic time. My Godson Levi was there and he's just always so cute. I got to feed him dinner and it was nice to get a big smile when he first saw me.I am working on my pair of Iphone Mitts or what I'm calling text ready mitts. The first one is done and ready for Ohio! Just need to put down my book and get to finishing the 2nd one soon!

Most of the Thanksgiving weekend I spent reading. What am I reading may you ask? Well, my nose is stuck in the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. Currently, I'm reading number 7 Definitely Dead. The series is about a southern bell, who ends up dating a variety of supernatural creatures, such as vampires. There is a series on Showtime called TrueBlood that's based on these books. I've watched the first season and it's a bit racy but a still a good show.

Well..hope everyone is having a fantastic Hump Day. I'm looking forward to crawling in bed with my book and listening to the lightning outside.

Crochet at Knit Night Wednesday and Softball Thursday!

Last night was our weekly Fiber Fanatics meet up and I had a great time. I had not been in about a month and it was nice to see everyone. While I was there I worked on my friend's sweater some more and learned a new crochet stitch. The bottom is my single crochet practice and then the top next to the hook is my new skill...double crochet!
Sheryl brought my godson Levi and he was just so well behaved! He got a little fussy because he was hungry but for the most part he was a doll!
He's just TOO cute!! Look at that face!!
Sid brought me goodies!! She was at the bookstore and she saw these and since she knew I'm such a big fan she had to get me Edward and Jacob Skybars!! They are AWESOME! I think I laughed for about 5 minutes! She and Angela are not fans...they think Bella whines and Edward is a possessive stalker. :) They are half right but I STILL love him!!
Sid lent me this series about werewolves and it's awesome!! It's what I've been reading for a while. The series is written by Patricia Briggs. This particular series from her is called the Mercy Thompson novels and they are Moon Called, Blood Bound, Iron Kissed, and the book I'm reading now Bone Crossed. They are all really good! I've also read another one that Sid lent me called Cry Wolf and it's the first one in the Alpha and Omega series. It's with some of the characters from the other series in the same world. I love when writers do that! If you like werewolf/vampire books check out this series...even if you don't at least read Moon Called and give it a chance. She hooked me!

Well, tonight my family planned our second ever Family Softball Game. Everyone who wanted to and could played. We had a blast! My team won but mostly we all had good fun! Here's a pic of me up at bat!
Well...I hope you enjoyed this two post day! I'll try to come back sooner than I have been. I miss writing about my days and sharing pictures! I'm almost done with a couple projects so you'll get to see some FO pictures soon!

Happy Thursday! I'm off to bed to read and be glad tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!

WWKIP! and yes...really late but with TONS of pictures!

Ok..yes, our event was held two Saturdays ago..but for some reason I just can't get blogs or podcasts up in a timely manner lately. At least I'm getting them up! So, Saturday June 20th was my knitting group which we like to call ourselves the Fiber Fanatics, had our World Wide Knit in Public day. I planned the event at a local park at a really nice shelter spot. It was funny because when we got there the reservation sign said "Rush Party." I laughed because I forget that I have a new name. :) My niece Surfer girl was like isn't that a sorority party. eheheheh

The venue I picked is one of my favorite spots.
How can you resist being out by the water...even though it was hot the breeze helped a lot! This was a pic of when we first got there. Check out the cool decorations that Sid made! And here is Sid, Frankie's new mommy! Frankie's new sister is Arwyn and they get along so great!Sid the crafty woman that she is...made these awesome red velvet cupcakes!Frankie hanging with Arwyn by his new daddy.Manda and I brought our wheels and spun a bit

    Here's Manda!
Here is Surfer Girl. She looks so amused. :)

We all had a great time. It was sad to leave but the park closes at dusk! Hope you enjoyed the pictures!!

    Happy WWKIP day!!
