Special K hat and more yarn... :)

My nephew Surfer Boy came with me on a yarn run today. His mom is recovering from surgery so I figured it would be nice for him tag along and get some yarn for the hat he wants. He wants a hat similar to the one I'm working on for Special K but with bigger ribs. I have been doing pretty good on my first attempt at a hat.
Audrey at Needles and Knobs says it's wonderful . She said the stretching is ok and will not be too noticable. I'm glad I showed it to her. She also told me about the needle stops...good idea. :) I have about 9 inches left to knit before the decrease.

While we were at Needles and Knobs we picked up some nice green yarn for Surfer Boy's hat. I didn't get a picture but it's Cascade Superwash in Sage.

Today, I realized that my niece Flower Girl's birthday is this Saturday. She turns the big 2-1. Yes, I am young yet have a niece that is only 21. She actually is only 6 yrs younger than me. We used to fight like sisters but have been getting along much better in our older ages. I realized if I'm going to give her a present I better get knitting. I haven't decided between beer cozies or a cellphone case. I might try to knock out both but we'll see. While out on my yarn run we stopped at Jo-Ann Fabrics and got some Sugar 'n Cream yarn. :) I couldn't decide on colors and I figured I can make some dishcloths out of it as well so I bought five skeins. :) I am realizing that my stash is growing and started to put all of the new yarn into ziploc bags to keep as much dog hair off of them as possible. I also bought some darning needles. What can I say???

  1. I'm a sucker for Sugar 'n Cream... Great score!

My aunt is only 3 years older than me, so I can relate with the whole fighting like sisters thing.

  2. Thanks for stopping by! It's always nice to "meet" new friends! Especially when they live in FL! You can never buy too much yarn, you'll always have something to knit!

  3. Thanks for your nice comment on my socks! It's always fun to meet fellow knitters. Your hat is looking great! And JackJack and Abigail are adorable :)

Sugar'n Cream is great for dish clothes!! That's what I use :)

  4. Hey thanks for the comment, You should come to the stitch n' pitch. I am going with my husband but there are a couple of other people I know through blogs going. Just go and have fun!

  5. Thanks for stopping by my blog.

To answer your question --- yes, people did see me. LOL I actually asked the manager for permission before doing any photos.

One kid (a UCF student) asked me what I was doing. When I said I was taking photos for my blog he understood and then asked if I was a knitter ......well, DUH!!!!!

  6. Hey I like your new header.
    oh now your hooked!
Soon you will be buying giant rubbermaid containers like the rest of us. :)
Your knitting is great! You really are doing a great job.
I love that scarf that you made too.
You know what is easy and fun to make with the sugar and creme cotton yarn is making dishcloth bibs! From the Mason Dixon knitting book.
Oh, I am so sorry I forgot to post about the pay it forward on my blog.
If it is not to late I will do that tomorrow. :)

  7. I'm just about to move you over to members on Knit1blogtoo and wanted to let you know that you will be shortly receiving an invite to join the teamblog. It's not compulsory, just an added extra that we have! :)

Good luck with your knitting, and your new look blog! Best wishes..B

  8. Once you start knitting, a yarn stash is never far behind. Same with quilting and fabric. I think that's part of the *rules* of these hobbies, you need to have more stash than projects going!! LOL Can't wait to see some of your quilting projects.

  9. Dish cloth cotton and sock yarn do not count towards your stash. So don't worry one bit.

Thank you for leaving a comment! I appreciate them all!
